Questions about Our Products
Is GOFoods dehydrated or freeze-dried?
GOFoods is dehydrated at temperatures below 108 degrees to maintain the integrity of the nutritional content, flavor, and texture. Dehydration is a low-heat process that removes moisture from food and shrinks down the product to create several servings in each package. Our food takes up less space and does not contain any preservatives to maintain the integrity of the product.
Freeze drying is a process that also removes moisture but also retains a product’s same size and shape, so you would need several freeze-dried pouches to equal the same number of servings as in one pouch of dehydrated. Freeze-dried foods take up more space, and freeze-dried usually has more preservatives, additives, enhancers, and chemically and genetically modified Ingredients.
What is shelf life of GOFoods products?
Our foods require no added preservatives for the extended shelf life. Preservatives are only needed when food ingredients are exposed to air, moisture, or light. Our products are dehydrated, so there is no moisture. In our packing facility, the pouches are flushed with CO2 so all oxygen is removed. The packaging film of our pouches has a light barrier so no light can penetrate the pouches. Properly dried and stored food generally does not spoil so it has an almost unlimited shelf life; however, we recommend for the highest nutritional value possible, the products are best when eaten within 15 years (bakery goods within the first 3 years). Stick pack products can also last for 5 years.
What is the best temperature to store GOFoods?
As with all food, the optimum storage conditions are cool and dry (70 degrees Fahrenheit or lower). Prolonged heat decreases the nutritional value. We advise against storing the food in a garage or attic where summertime temperatures can exceed 100 degrees. Cold or freezing temperatures are of no concern.
Does GOFoods have gluten-free products?
The following meals are gluten-free: Natural Oatmeal, Cheddar Broccoli Soup, Southwestern Tortilla Soup, Western Potato Chowder, Potato Cheddar Soup, Sweet Corn Chowder, Au Gratin Potatoes, Chicken Cheddar Rice, Seasoned Mashed Potatoes, Santa Fe Fiesta Rice, Whey Good Milk, Tropical Fruit Mix
